Elatovrisi is a small mountain village in Nafpaktia, in the prefecture of Etoloakarnania, at an altitude of 860 meters. In the period 1999 - 2010, according to the Kapodistrias program, it belonged to the Municipality of Apodotia. With the implementation of the Kallikratis program, it joined the Local Community of Elatovrissi, which belongs to the Municipal Unit of Apodotia of the Municipality of Nafpaktia and its population according to the 2011 census is 116 inhabitants [2].
Geography - History
Elatovrisi is built on the slopes of Vardousia on the northern slopes of the Omalia mountain range between the torrents "Frango" and "Kokkini Melista" which join together and end up in the river Evinos [3] [4]. The village is 69 km NE of Nafpaktos and 21 km N of Ano Chora [5]. Its old name, until 1927, was Voitsa [6] and probably means "place for oxen". The French traveler François Pouqueville mentions that during the Turkish occupation, 30 families lived in the villages of the Kravara region. Until 1914 it was the capital of the former Municipality of Ofionia. It is the home of the fighter of 1821 and local chief Ioannis Farmakis and Vassilis Bousgou, who was the first son of Athanasios Diakos and Odysseas Androutsos. Of interest are the parish church of the village of Agia Triada, built in 1955 to 1957, as well as the chapels of Ai Thanasis (1900) and Agia Paraskevi, which was first built before the Revolution of 1821 by General Panourgias.
