Saitoures (Σαϊτούρες ) Rethymno
Saitours is a settlement of the Municipality of Nikiforos Phokas with 105 inhabitants, according to the latest census. The village is 18 km away from Rethymno and is built at an altitude of 350 meters. To reach Saitoures, starting from Rethymno, turn left into the 13.4 km branch of the old national road of Rethymnon - Chania, passing through the villages of Kaloniktis, Paleilmos and ending at Saitoures.
The church of the village is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. Ecclesiastically it falls into the E Archipelagos of the Holy Metropolis of Rethymnon and Avlopotamos, the Church of Crete.

History - name
The village is referred in the Venetian censuses of Barrotzi in 1577, and the Kastrofylakas in 1583. The name of the village is due to its shape, which looks like a shuttle. The many Byzantine churches testify to the existence of the village during the Byzantine period. In Venetian ources the village is named by the same name. In 1538 it is referred in Kastrafylakas as Saitures with 387 inhabitants.
Ecclesiastical affiliation
The church of the village is dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. Ecclesiastically it falls into the E Archipelagos of the Holy Metropolis of Rethymnon and Avlopotamos, the Church of Crete.
Products
The main products of the village are oil, carobs and livestock. Also a few grapes, fruits and vegetables are produced.
