Marathias, Aitoloakarnania

Marathias (Local Community of Kaloudi), is a lowland village in the municipality of Thermo in the Regional Unit of Etoloakarnania [1] located in the Region of Western Greece, according to the administrative division of Greece as formed by the "Kallikratis" program and has a population of 172 inhabitants [2 ].

The official name is "Marathias" and it is officially mentioned in 1927, Government Gazette 26A - 18/02/1927 when it was detached from the then community of Gustiani and annexed to the community of Kaloudi. In 1997, with the Government Gazette 45A - 31/03/1997, the seat of the then community of Kaloudi was defined [3]. The seat of the municipality is Thermo and belongs to the geographical department of Central Greece.

During the administrative division of Greece with the "Kapodistrias" plan, until 2010, Marathias belonged to the Local Department of Kaloudi, of the former Municipality of Thermos of the Prefecture of Etoloakarnania.

Marathias has an altitude of 47 meters above sea level, at latitude 38.4951221464 and longitude 21.6431624508 [4].
