Meligkova (Μελίγκοβα) Aitoloakarnania
Meligkova is a mountain village in Etoloakarnania in the area of Thermos at an altitude of 550 meters [1] [2].
Geography - History
Meligkova is located northeast of Lake Trichonida on a mountain slope of Mount Panaitolikos. To the east, the Xerorema torrent passes, which ends in the river Evinos, and through the settlement passes the provincial road Thermou - Argyrou Pigadiou. It is 44 km east of Agrinio, 14.5 km northeast of Thermo and 4 km southeast of Nerochori. The village is mentioned during the Turkish occupation and the folklorist Dimitrios Loukopoulos has recorded it in his book "Thermo and Apokorou" as a settlement of the community of Nerochori. There are two churches: Agios Georgios and Agia Paraskevi, which is celebrated every year on July 26 and gathers a lot of people from the surrounding area.
Administratively
In 1928, with Government Gazette 176A-29/08/1928, it was detached from the community of Drymonos and between 1979 and 1984 it was the seat of the then community of Nerochori [5]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Nerochori and Misabella, they constitute the local community of Nerochori, which belongs to the municipality of Thermo and according to the 2011 census, has a population of 67 permanent residents.
