Pamfio (Πάμφιο) Aitoloakarnania
Pamfio is a lowland lake settlement in the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania, it is the seat of the homonymous Local Community, and according to the "Kallikratis Program" from 1/1/2011 it belongs to the enlarged Municipality of Thermos [1] [2]. In the period 1997-2010, based on the "Kapodistrias Plan", it was the seat of the homonymous former Municipal District of the "Kapodistrian" Municipality of Thermo [1] [2] [3] [4].
Location
The village is located very close to Lake Trichonida, in an area southeast of it. It is built at an altitude of about 25 to 100 meters and near it are located, in addition to Thermo which is the administrative center of the area, the villages of Ano Makrinou, Kato Makrinou, Kapsorrachi, Marathias, Sitaralona, Petrochori, Dounaika, Kaloudi and Analipsi while nearby Also located are the settlements of Despotis and Kourmeki as well as the abandoned settlement of Morosklavos. It is 41 km from Agrinio via the route north of Lake Trichonida or 36.5 km via the route south of Lake Trichonida, about 35 km from Nafpaktos while the Holy Monastery of Prousos is 52 km by road.
Historical data
It is one of the villages of the historical area of Apokouros. Until 1928 it was called "Gustiani", when with the Government Gazette 81A of 14/05/1928 it received its current name [1], as well as the then Community [3] [6] [7].
