Metamorfosi is a lowland village of Karditsa at an altitude of 90 meters [1].

Geography - History

Metamorfosi (formerly Kourtiki [2]) is located in the center of the regional unit of Karditsa at a distance of 7 km NW. of Palamas and 26 km NE. of Karditsa. It is a settlement and a local community of the municipality of Palamas [3] and is built on the western banks of the river Kalentzi, at the lowest point of the Thessalian Plain. The permanent residents of the village, according to the 2011 census, are 407 [4]. The vast majority of them are engaged in agriculture, mainly in cotton cultivation, [5] and less in animal husbandry. A typical location of the village is the chapel of the Transfiguration of the Savior, in the courtyard of which a festival is organized every year with a huge attendance of pilgrims from all over Thessaly on the two days of August 5 and 6 with dance events.
