During the Occupation, it was completely destroyed by the Germans and 47 of the inhabitants were taken hostage, who drowned together with the Israelis when the ship Tanais, which was transporting them to Piraeus, was torpedoed.
The Venetian censuses also mention the other settlements: Kaloghorafiti with 108 inhabitants (Kastrofylakas K 100) and the Chissus with 157 inhabitants in 1583.
The well-known [1] resistance fighter Petrakogiorgis was born in Magarikari.
