Fylakti (Φυλακτή) Karditsa
Fylakti is a mountain village in the prefecture of Karditsa. It is built at an altitude of 1,000 meters on the slopes of Agrafa, very close to Lake Plastira and is one of the most mountainous settlements in Thessaly. The old name of the village, which was preserved until 1928, is Sermeniko (Sirminik) [1] [2].
Fylakti belongs to the Municipality of Limni Plastira and its population according to the 2011 census is 278 inhabitants. It is 32 km from Karditsa.
The history of the village dates back to the pre-Byzantine years, when it was located in the place of Agioi Apostoloi and was called Megali Poliana, but the inhabitants moved to the current location due to illness.
In the village, the monastery of the Holy Trinity is preserved, which dates from the 17th century and has a wood-carved iconostasis and frescoes.
Local Community of Fylaktis
It belongs administratively to the Municipality of Lake Plastira, with a total of 332 inhabitants. This includes, in addition to Fylakti, which is its seat, the settlement of Kalyvia Fylaktis (54 inhabitants).
