Neo Agridi (Νέο Αγρίδι) Aitoloakarnania
Neo Agridi is a semi-mountainous village in the prefecture of Aitoloakarnania at an altitude of 340 meters [1]. Administratively, with the Kallikratis program, together with Dromitsa and Kamino, they constitute the Local Community of Agridio, which belongs to the Municipal Unit of Inachos of the Municipality of Amfilochia and has a population of 85 permanent residents according to the 2011 census [2].
Geography - History
Neo Agridi is located in the valley of the river Inachos, which is a tributary of the Acheloos, North - NW. of Agrinio at a distance of 60 km from it [3]. It is built near the provincial road Patiopoulou - Chalkiopoulou, between the villages of Agios Nikolaos, Grammatsouli and Skatzokambos. It was first recognized as a settlement in 1961 and annexed to the already existing community of Agridi.'
Agridi
The historical settlement of the area is Agridi, located 3 km west of Neo Agridio. This is the village that is mentioned, during the Turkish occupation, between the villages of Valtos. After the Revolution of 1821 and the end of the conflict, in 1828, there was desolation by the inhabitants of the area. In the census and distribution of financial aid that Kapodistrias made at that time, the village is mentioned with a population of 18 inhabitants [5]. In 1836 it was recorded in the then Municipality of Idomeni of the province of Valtos [6]. With the Government Gazette 261A - 31/08/1912, it is detached from the municipality of Thyamos and is designated the seat of the newly established community of Agridio [7]. In 1991 the settlement of Agridi was abolished and annexed to the settlement of Neo Agridi (officially Neon Agridion) of the community of Agridi [4].
