Myrmigki (Μυρμήγκι) Chios
Myrmigki is a village in southeastern Chios, about 12 kilometers from the city of Chios. Formerly it was the seat of a homonymous community, while today it belongs to the homonymous municipal district of the Municipality of Ionia (it is the only settlement of this municipal district). The average altitude of the village is 225 meters above sea level, which is a few kilometers away. The nearest villages are Tholopotami to the north-northwest and Mesa Didyma to the south-southeast.
Toponyms
Myrmigki is also known by the variants Mermigi and Myrmaki of its name. Its resident is called Mermigousis (and the resident Mermigousaina) in the local language idiom. The place name "Ant" in Chios also exists in the villages of Kourounia and Kalamoti, while in Kalamoti there is also "Mermigas", while in Lithi "Myrmikia". In the Museum of the 1st High School of Chios is kept a stone with the ancient inscription "` Mountains of Myrmikeos ", which probably implies the current village. But the inhabitants of ancient Aegina were once called "Ant".

There is no lowland in the area and the inhabitants of Myrmigki are mainly engaged in the cultivation of olive trees. The ruins of a small medieval castle survive in the area. Formerly, there was the Karaman Aga spring and the related irrigation work of the Genoese survives: a large and magnificent architectural well and a small tunnel with a stone arch leading to the spring.
The parish church (the "village church") is named after St. Marina. From the 19th century, the old churches of Agios Ioannis (most remarkable) and Agia Paraskevi of Proakides are mentioned. The village is ecclesiastically under the hierarchical supervision of Nenites of the Holy Metropolis of Chios, Psara and Oinousses.
The Post Code is 82102.
