Kalamitsi is located 5 km east of Grevena. West of the village and before Grevena, Egnatia Odos passes. In 1902, during the excavation of new foundations in the church of Agios Athanasios, a headless female marble statue was found on a semicircular base of the Roman era. Due to the inscription "(Va) vila aravaiou tin (Th) gigtera Meli (ss) an iro (ida)" that existed, it is probable that it is a place of Hero [2]. Before the liberation and the exchange of population, there were Muslim Valaads and Christian Kupatsaras, which is why it was one of the Vlach villages of Grevena. It is officially mentioned as a settlement in 1918 in the Government Gazette 260A-31/12/1918 to be annexed to the then community of Grevena [4]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Grevena and Doxaras, they constitute the municipal community of Grevena, which belongs to the municipal unit of Grevena of the Municipality of Grevena and according to the 2011 census has a population of 29 inhabitants [5].
