Historical data

The oldest written mention in Patsides is made in a contract of 1271, which mentions the rental of vineyards in the village of Panno Spartido (Panno Spartido), which Stergios Spanakis identifies with Pano Spatsides. In contracts of 1279 it is referred to as Spartides. Notarial documents of 1333 state that Kato Patsides was the patriarchal village of the Latin Patriarchate of Constantinople. Kato Patsides is also mentioned in a ducal document of 1378 and Pano Patsides in a document of 1380. [2]

The Venetian censuses mention two settlements. Francesco Barocci in 1577 mentions the Pacidhes apano and Pacidhes cato. The Venetian census of 1583 by Kastrofylakas mentions Pazzides apano and Pazzides cato, both with 69 inhabitants. Francesco Vasilicata in 1630 mentions Pacidhes Ap (an) o and Pacidhes cato. In the Ottoman census of 1671 they are not mentioned, but they are mentioned in a contract of 1673, probably as a place name. A 1834 census conducted by the Egyptians mentions a settlement, Patsidhi, with 4 Christian and 6 Muslim families. [2]

In the 1881 census, the Patsides had 36 Christians and 49 Turkish inhabitants and belonged to the municipality of Agioi Paraskies. In the 1900 census it belonged to the same municipality and had 57 inhabitants. In 1920 it belonged to the community of Skalani. [2] It remained in the community of Skalani until 1948, when it was annexed to the community of Kato Archanes. With the Kapodistrias program, the Patsides were annexed to the municipality of Archanes. [3]
