Miamou (Μιαμού ) Heraklion
Miamou is a village in the province of Kainourgiou in the plain of Messara and the seat of the homonymous Municipal District of the Municipality of Gortyna, in the Prefecture of Heraklion. Among other things, it has a regional clinic. Remarkable are the churches of Agios Georgios and Agios Ioannis the Theologian, in the village, as well as Agia Marina, with a spring believed to be the source of healing water, Agios Eleftherios, Agios Ioannis Prodromos, Agia Sofia. , Agia Paraskevi, Agios Spyridonas and Agios Georgios. When it was a community, the settlement of Krotos as well as Lentas belonged to Mimos. There is a primary school in Miamos and Krotos.

Krotos [120], on the southern slopes of the Asterousia Mountains, about 69 km from Heraklion. The inhabitants are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. Early vegetable growing is cultivated on the coastal areas. In the village there are the holy temples of Agios Dimitrios and Agios Georgios, while a short distance from the beach in a cave there is a small church dedicated to Zoodocho Pigi, where a big festival takes place on the Friday of Diakainisimos.

Historical data
The residents believe that it was inhabited by the inhabitants of the settlements of Agios Eleftherios, Fotini, Haraka, Apidiana, Agia Marina, whose ruins can be seen next to the neighboring village. However, settlements with these names are not mentioned in well-known texts. In the area there is a small cave in which the archeological findings reveal its use as a human residence, from 3500 BC.
In 1583 Miamú is mentioned with 204 inhabitants (Kastrofylakas, K 103). Krotos is also mentioned under the name Crothó by Basilicata (Spanakis S., Monuments of Cretan History, V, 120) and in the Turkish census of 1671 Crotho with 17 engravings (Cretan Chronicles, AD, 104). This village is not mentioned in Kastrofylakas.
