Lagkada (Λαγκάδα) Ioannina
Lagkada is a mountain village in the prefecture of Ioannina, Epirus, at an altitude of 900 meters.
Geography - History
Lagkada is located west of the river Sarantaporo and near the national road Ioannina - Kozani. It is 98 km north of Ioannina and 37 km A.-VA. from Konitsa [2]. It is included in Mastrochoria of Epirus and the old name of the village, until 1927, was Blissiani or Blisidiani [3]. Its inhabitants worked in the 18th and 19th centuries as craftsmen mainly in Western Thessaly and Western Macedonia. In fact, there are many reports of carpenters from Blisidiani in the mansions of Siatista. In 1863, many families from the village settled in Drakotrypa, Karditsa (then Sklataina). Today the inhabitants are engaged in logging and animal husbandry. In the wider area, there are two logging and wood processing units, two forest cooperatives and several livestock farms. According to the plan, Kallikratis is the local community of Lagkada that belongs to the municipal unit of Mastrochoria of the Municipality of Konitsa and according to the 2011 census has a population of 124 inhabitants [6].
