Katsouli (Κατσούλι) Aitoloakarnania
Katsouli is a coastal settlement of Menidi in the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania [1].
Geography - History
Katsouli is located on the border with the Arta Regional Unit and on the northeast coast of the Amvrakikos Gulf. It is 21 km north of Amfilochia, 24 km SE. from Arta and 4 km SE. from Menidi. Ionia Odos passes to the east of the village. Formerly there was the "Hani Katsouli" in the area of which in July 1943 one of the ambushes of the Battle of Makrynoros was set up, by guerrillas of EOEA - EDES against an Italian and German motorcade [2]. It is officially mentioned as a settlement for the first time in 2001 that it belongs to the then Local Department of Menidi of the municipality of Menidi [3]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Menidi, Theriakisi, Lagkada, Sykoula and Elaiochori, they constitute the Local Community of Menidi, which belongs to the Municipal Unit of Menidi of the Municipality of Amfilochia and according to the 2011 census has a population of 25 inhabitants [4] .
