Mazi (Μάζι) Ioannina
Mazi (officially Mazion) is a semi-mountainous village in the area of Konitsa in Epirus at an altitude of 480 meters [1] [2].
Geography - History
Mazi is located in the prefecture of Ioannina, on the border of Greece with Albania, near the point where Voidomatis joins the Aoos river. The village is built on a slope of a low hill range, covered with mulberries and walnuts, with a view to the plain of Konitsa and the western slopes of Mount Tymfi. It is sunny and is crossed by the provincial road Konitsa - Aetopetra [2]. [3] It is 63 km north-west. from Ioannina and 8.5 km. D. from Konitsa.
Administratively
As a community, it was officially established, after the integration in Greece, in 1919 with the Government Gazette 184A - 19/08/1919 based in the settlement. According to the Kallikratis plan, it is the local community of Mazio that belongs to the municipal unit of Konitsa of the Municipality of Konitsa and according to the 2011 census it has a population of 187 inhabitants.
