Administrative Changes
The community of Kato Kamila followed the following administrative changes [4]:
In 1920 a community was established based in the settlement of Kato Kamila (Osman Kamila), which consisted of the homonymous settlement as well as the settlements of Gounteli (Vamvakousa), Koumargianni (Koumaria [5]), Kiopeki (Skoutari [6]), Mosque Mahale ( Kouvouklia), Ago Mahala (Brother [7]) and Anta. The names in parentheses are the new and current names of the settlements.
In 1926 (Government Gazette 217A - 30/6/1926) some settlements were detached from the community based in Kato Kamila and formed two new communities: The settlements Kiskepesi (Skoutari) and Antas are defined as the community based in the community Kiopeki and the settlements Koumargianni ( Koumaria) and Ago Mahalas (Kouvouklia) are defined as a community based in Koumargianni.
This was followed by the renaming of some settlements. In 1926, the settlement of Gudeli was renamed Vamvakousa [8] and in 1927 the settlement of Mosque Mahale was renamed Kouvouklion [9].
In 1933 the settlement of Vamvakousa is detached from the community of Kato Kamila and is a new community based in Vamvakousa.
In 1940 the name of the settlement Kouvouklion is changed to Kouvouklia.
In 1950 the settlement of Kouvouklia is detached from the community of Kato Kamila and is a new community based in Kouvouklia.
In 1997, the settlement of Kato Kamila was abolished as a community and according to the Kapodistrias Program, it was renamed a municipal district and annexed to the municipality of Skoutareos. The following municipal districts are attached to the same municipality: Skoutari, Agia Eleni, Adelfiko, Vamvakousa, Kouvouklia, Koumaria, Konstantinato and Peponia.
In 2010 the settlement of Kato Kamila is detached from the municipality of Skoutareos and annexed to the municipality of Serres.
