Fyllo (Φύλλον) Karditsa
Fyllo is a lowland village in the prefecture of Karditsa at an altitude of 95 meters [1].
Geography
Fyllo is located on the western borders of the prefecture of Karditsa with the prefecture of Larissa and is crossed by the river Enipeas (Thessaly). Near the river, there is also the Phyllion Mount or Dogatzis. Fyllo has an area of 24,194 acres. It is 10 km SE. from Palamas, 27 km A.-VA. from the center of Karditsa and 35 km SW. from Larissa. The old name from the time of the Turkish occupation was Sampali and so it is officially mentioned in 1883 in the Government Gazette 126A-02/04/1883 to be attached to the then municipality of Fyllo which belonged to the prefecture of Trikala. In 1930 with the Government Gazette 251A-24/07/1930 it was renamed to Fyllon and in 1944 it was detached from the prefecture of Trikkala in the prefecture of Karditsa [2]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Ampelonas, they constitute the local community of Fyllo, which belongs to the municipal community of Fyllos of the municipality of Palamas [3] and according to the 2011 census has a population of 678 inhabitants, while as a settlement 555 [4].
