Fraxos (Φράξος) Arta
Fraxos is a small settlement of the Municipality of Arta at an altitude of 340 meters [1] with 11 permanent residents (2011 census), in the mountains of Arta and is about 33 kilometers from the city. [2]
According to the Kapodistrias Plan, Fraxos existed until the end of 2010, a settlement of the Municipality of Xirovouni based in Ammotopos. Based on the new administrative division provided by the Kallikratis Plan, Fraxos joined the Municipality of Arta. [3] Fraxos together with Skoupa, Kampos, Kardamos, Paleochori, Platanakia and Tsiapalaika form the local community of Skoupa with a total population of 143 inhabitants.
Administrative changes
The settlement was recognized in 1961 and annexed to the community of Skoupa while in 1974 it was detached from the province of Nikopoleos and Parga of the prefecture of Preveza and joined the province of Arta of the prefecture of Arta. In 1997, Fraxos joined the municipality of Xirovouni and in 2010 the municipality of Arta. [4]
Location and Access
Fraxos is adjacent to the settlements of the local community of Skoupa, Dafnoti and Profitis Ilias. [5]
Note
In the prefecture of Arta and in the municipality of Georgios Karaiskakis there is the settlement of Fraxos (officially Fraxon).
