Administrative Region : West Greece
Regional unit : Aitoloakarnania
Forti (Φορτί) Aitoloakarnania
Forti is an islet located at the sea crossing of Aitoloakarnania - Lefkada [1], approximately at the height of the settlements of Kariotes Lefkada and Plagia Aitoloakarnania. Formerly it was a continuation of the peninsula of Alykes Lefkada. Above it is a ruined small fortress built during the Venetian occupation. It was renovated by the Russians in 1807, during the Russian-Turkish occupation of Lefkada to prevent the occupation of the island by Ali Pasha. It was then named "Alexander's Castle" in honor of their Tsar.
Administratively
The island has no inhabitants, although they used to exist. As a settlement it is mentioned in 1961 that it belongs to the then community of Peratia [3]. According to the 2011 census, together with Peratia, Agia Varvara and the island of Vagia, they constitute the Local Community of Peratia, which belongs to the Municipal Unit of Paleiro of the Municipality of Aktio - Vonitsa [4].
