General elements

The settlement is built at an altitude of 100 meters in the western part of the island, 5 km [3] east of the capital of the island of Chora [4] on the road axis Chora - Melanon - Kynidarou. Until 1928 it was called Agios Thalalaios [4] while administratively it belonged until 1997 to the community of Melanes in the province of Naxos. It then became part of the Kapodistrian municipality of Naxos [4], while since 2011 it has been part of the Kallikratiko municipality of Naxos and the Small Cyclades [1].

The patron saint of the village is Agios Thalelaios, in honor of which a festival is organized every year on May 20, while an important attraction is the remains of an ancient aqueduct of Roman times [3].
