Roda Thinaliou or Sfakeron is a seaside village of Corfu [1].
Geography
Rhodes is located on the northern shores of the island at a distance of 36.5 km NW. from the city of Corfu and 3 km W. from Acharavi. It borders S with Sfakera, W with Roda Esperion. NW. and E -NE with Agios Stefanos. It is a summer tourist destination and has many restaurants, shops of all kinds, travel agencies, tour operators, internet cafes, pubs and clubs. There are two beaches, one to the west, smaller and secluded, next to the port and the other east along the coast and the village houses. From the small port start tourist boats that make excursions to the Diapontia islands [2]. Its old name is Agios Georgios and it is officially mentioned in 1869 in the Government Gazette 55A - 23/12/1869 to be attached to the then municipality of Akrolofites. in 1912 with the Government Gazette 261A - 31/08/1912 it is corrected in Roda [3]. According to the Kallikratis plan and after its amendment in 2019, together with Sfakera they constitute the local community of Sfakera that belongs to the municipal unit of Tinali of the municipality of North Corfu [4] and according to the 2011 census has a population of 561 inhabitants [5].
