Pisia (Πίσια) Korinthia
The village of Pisia belongs to the Local Community of Pision of the Municipal Unit of Loutraki, Perachora, of the Municipality of Loutraki - Perachora - Agioi Theodoroi. The local community of Pision with a total population of 465 people (2011) also includes the villages of Agia Sotira, Vamvakon, Mavrolimni and Schinos.
At a distance of 15 km from Loutraki of Corinth and 4 km from Perachora and on the green pine-covered NE slope of the mountain range of Geraneia mountains, is the village of Pisia, at an altitude of 650 meters.
In modern Greek history (1821) its inhabitants, who had distinguished themselves as capable merchants, played an important role.
Pisia also includes Schinos - a summer residence area. During the initial establishment of the Municipality in 1834, it came under the Municipality of Perachorites. In 1912 it was recognized as an independent Community and in 1997 according to law 2539/97, it was subordinated to the Municipality of Loutraki - Perachora, while in 2011 with the Program "Kallikratis" it was subordinated to the Municipal Unit of Loutraki Perachora of the Municipality of Loutraki - Perachora - Agios Theodos.
A deep ravine with many plane trees and waters, gives the village a special beauty. The first inhabitants of the village probably came from the coasts of Perea Chora (Perachora), and went there during the Frankish period to avoid pirate raids. The village has 80 inhabitants (2011 census), who are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. Finally, in the 18th century, the church of Agia Paraskevi, the metropolis of Pisia, which belongs to the rhythm of the three-aisled basilica, was first built.
