Oreino (Ορεινό) Ioannina
Oreino is a mountain village in Epirus in the Regional Unit of Ioannina [1] with an altitude of 841 meters [2], which is located next to the northwestern border of Greece with Albania and historically belongs to the villages of Pogoni [3]. Its old name is Bozaniko and so it is mentioned in 1919 in the Official Gazette 184A - 19/08/1919 to be annexed to the then community of Xirovaltou. In 1922 with the Government Gazette 19A - 11/02/1922 the seat of the community of Bozanikou was defined while in 1928 with the Government Gazette 81A - 14/05/1928 it was renamed to Oreino. Until 2010, it belonged to the local district of Oreino Xirovaltou, of the former Municipality of Delvinaki of the Prefecture of Ioannina. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Xirovaltos, they constitute the local community of Orinio Xirovaltou, which belongs to the municipal unit of Delvinaki of the Municipality of Pogoni [4]. According to the 2011 census, it has 14 permanent residents [5], while in 2001 it had a population of 14 inhabitants.
