Kappas (Καππάς) Karditsa
Kappa is one of the eight villages of the municipality of Mouzaki in the prefecture of Karditsa and one of the 73 Thessalian villages of Agrafa while its history dates back to the time of the Roman Empire. It is 21 km from Karditsa and is built at the end of the mountain range of Pindos. According to tradition, it was founded by Italian settlers in the 9th century AD. century, in a different position from the current one and specifically in the places Petries and Dendra where the ancient city of Kappoua is located.
Kappoua began to decline in the early 17th century AD. while he had the misfortune to die abruptly due to an illness, most likely a plague, which struck the area and led the inhabitants to the surrounding areas. Very few were left in Capua because economic reasons did not allow them to move. Several of the city's residents moved en masse 1 km south, where they created a village called Kappa. This village remained in the area until the second decade of the 20th century, when it had to be moved once again to its current location, due to a deadly disease, which according to testimonies of locals who came from the "old village", as it is called today. the place, was a form of flu.
Stone houses are found, which were built by Epirote and Phanariot builders. The permanent residents of the village do not exceed 100. The main occupation of the residents is agriculture and animal husbandry, while it also has several freelancers such as manufacturers of aluminum frames, furniture and glass, as well as construction contractors. Also in the village there are 2 traditional cafes and two coffee grills. Dimitris Mitropanos' father was also born there.
