Ellinochori, Korinthia

Ellinochori (until 1928 Limochori [1]) is a village in the municipality of Velos-Vochas in the prefecture of Corinth. According to the 2011 census, its population is 335 inhabitants.

General and historical data

The settlement is built southwest of Corinth at an altitude of 290 meters and until 1928 it was called Limochori [1]. It is mentioned in 1853 in the second volume of the "Greek" by Iakovos Rizos Ragavis as a "rural position" [2], while at the beginning of the 20th century it had a school and produced oil, wine and raisins [3]. In July 1944, thirteen residents of the settlement were executed by ELAS men on charges of reaction.

Administratively it belonged first to the municipality of Corinth [2] and then to the province of Corinth as the seat of the community. In 1997 it became part of the Kapodistrian municipality of Velos [1], while since 2011 it belongs to the Kallikratiko municipality of Velos-Vochas.
