Bacchus and Nymphs in a Landscape
Abraham van Cuylenborch (Utrecht, 1620 or 1610 [1] - Utrecht, 22 November 1658) was a painter and designer of the Dutch Golden Age.
Biography
Not much is known of the life of this artist who was born and worked almost exclusively in Utrecht, presumably between 1639 [2], when it became part of the local Guild of Saint Luke [1], and 1651, although his paintings dated relate mainly to the time interval 1642 - 1648 [2]. According Kren and Marx, he learned the art of painting by Cornelius van Poelenburgh [1], while the second Golahny not sure it was one of his students [3].
Cuylenborch devoted himself exclusively to painting landscapes and genre, in particular architectures [2]. His style is reminiscent of that of Cornelius van Poelenburgh [2] [4], so as to be able to be considered a follower [2] [3].
