Found in Athens. On the pediment are recorded the names of the eponymous archon and
of the kosmetes Claudius Herakleides. Beneath the pediment reference is made to two
gymnasiarchs, followed by the names of the ephebes of the two systremmata (bodies of twelve),
for which every gymnasiarch had responsibility. In the centre of the stele is mention of
encomia and victories in the annual festivals held in honour of the imperial family.
The relief boat with five oarsmen at the bottom suggests that the systremmata had probably taken
part in a naval battle contest
