Gig of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis
Model of the gig of the frigate Hellas, built in New York
and first sailed into the harbour of Nafplion in November 1826
Constructed from hardwood (Alnus sp.) this splender many rowed and vert
fast boat (length 10 m) was intended for personal use by the Admiral
With this boat during his mutiny against the government of Ioannis Kapodistrias
(Aug. 1831) Miaoulis and his men fled to Hydra from Poros island
after sending several ships in order to avoid surrendering them to Russian admiral P.Ricord
