The Battle of Volo was the first major victory of Philip II of Macedon, who defeated the forces of the Phocian general Onomarchus, who was killed. This was the decisive battle of the Third Sacred War, which saw Macedon, the Amphictyonic League, and Thebes fighting against Phocis, Athens, Sparta, and Pherae.
