Raveni in Thesprotia is near the ancient city of Fanoti, part of the kingdom of Thesprotis. It lies on the foothills of the tormented mountain of Mourgana, where the civil war took place after the Second World War. The village is more or less surrounded by the snake like river of Thyamis, which forms its delta at the bay of Igoumenitsa.

Contrary to popular belief .it is almost certain that the famous Mouratis family (changed to Stathis during the early twenties when the region changed hands from the Ottoman Empire to the newly formed Greece) has dwelled on these grounds going back to the pelasgic era.
