Nikopoli is a community of the Municipality of Preveza located within the geographical area of Ancient Nikopolis. . It is built at an altitude of 5 to 80 meters and has 400 inhabitants (2011 census)

Geography
The community of Nikopoli (Smirtoula-The settlement came from the renaming of the settlement Saframbolis in 1927) is about 8 km north of Preveza and is built at the foot of the homonymous hill of Nikopoli (100m maximum height). It is connected by asphalt road with the national road Preveza - Arta and with the coastal road Preveza - Parga - Igoumenitsa. The village has a southwesterly orientation and on its back has the grove of Nikopolis (ancient writers mention the grove in the grove.)
History
Nikopoli, as a community, is a relatively new village. At the beginning of the twentieth century it had very few inhabitants, usually cattle breeders. It was inhabited before the war and post-war mainly by Sarakatsani breeders and refugees from Asia Minor. The whole history of the community is the same as the one described in the ancient Ancient Nikopolis. became known for the following battles:
Battle of Nikopolis in the year 1789 between French + Greeks against Turkalvans, and
