Mytilinioi (Μυτιληνιοί) Samos
Mytilinioi or Mitilinii is a village in the prefecture of Samos, on the island of Samos built on a hill, in a beautiful central area. According to the 2011 census it has 1,982 inhabitants.
The settlement was created when Kilitz Ali received permission from Sultan Suleiman to settle Samos. Residents of Lesvos, who were being persecuted, found refuge there, which explains the name of the settlement.
In the neighboring plain of Mesokambos, which is about 3 km from Mytilene, there are remnants of cyclopean walls, which testify that the area was inhabited from a very early age.
A torrent, the Chisios, flows through Mytilinioi, which has a lot of water in the winter and is wild, while in the summer the farmers use its little water to irrigate the gardens. The inhabitants of Mytilinioi are mostly farmers and produce wine, oil, raisins and cereals.
Sights of the town are the neighboring monastery of the Holy Trinity, the forests of the area and the Museum of Natural History, known as the Museum of Natural History of the Aegean.
