Korda (Κόρδα) Karditsa
Korda, is a lowland village of Karditsa [1] at an altitude of 94 meters [2].
Geography - Sights
Korda is located south of the river Pineios, on the northern borders of the prefecture with the prefecture of Trikala. It is 14 km NW. from Palamas, 27 km B.-VA. from Karditsa and 25 km. A. from Trikala. The small church of Agios Athanasios in the center of the village, behind the new parish church, is its most important attraction [3] and since 2000 it has been characterized as a historic monument. It is a single-aisled church which is vaulted and has a sanctuary with a semicircular arch. On its roof, three skylights open on each side. The interior is decorated with murals. which, based on their style, date from the end of the 17th to the beginning of the 18th century. The old iconostasis preserves the inscription 1730, which probably indicates the year of its construction [4].
Administratively
As a settlement it is officially mentioned in 1883 in the Government Gazette 126A-02/04/1883 with this name being attached to the then municipality of Silani that belonged to the prefecture of Trikala. In 1944, with the Government Gazette 82A-13/04/1944, he was detached from the prefecture of Trikkala and belonged to the prefecture of Karditsa [5]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with Marathea, they constitute the local community of Marathea, which belongs to the municipal community of Sellanos of the municipality of Palamas and according to the 2011 census has a population of 246 inhabitants.
