Kapsouri (Καψούρι) Evoia

Kapsouri is a semi-mountainous village in the Regional Unit of Evoia at an altitude of 380 meters [1].

Geography - History

Kapsouri is located at the southeastern tip of Evia and Cape Kafirea (Cape Doro). It is 45 km (driving - via Platanistou) NE. from Karystos. The village belongs to the so-called "villages of Kavontoro" in the wider area of ​​Kafirea. It is built at the northeastern foot of Mount Ochi, in a verdant area and south of Mount Kerasia. As a settlement it is mentioned in 1889 in the Government Gazette 251A - 04/10/1889 to be annexed to the then municipality of Karystos [3]. According to the Kallikratis program, together with Amygdalea, Komito, Zacharia, Thymi, Kapsouri and Schizali are the local community of Amygdalea that belongs to the municipal unit of Kafireos of the Municipality of Karystos and according to the 2011 census as a population has 16 permanent residents [4].
