Kaparelli (Καπαρέλλι) Argolida
Kaparelli is a village in the Municipality of Argos, Mycenae.
Its population amounts to 358 inhabitants, according to the 1951 Census, while it is located 27 km from Argos.
The name Caparelli comes from the Italian origin Caparello, and the history of the village was marked in 1944 by the fire set there by the Germans.
Opposite a hill dominates the metropolis of Kaparellio, Agios Ioannis Prodromos, which even from afar stands out for its special traditional architecture.
Caparelli is also known to fans of marathon routes, as the 248 km Spartathlon passes through there on the last Sunday of September.
Kapareli Cave
At an altitude of 440 m. Is the cave that belongs to the Municipality of Argos, Mycenae. This cave was known to the inhabitants of the area as "Trypa (greek word for hole)" in which they threw everything useless and unclean.
The resident of the village, D. Kaparellos, after his visit to the cave of Ioannina, thought that the "Hole" of his village could hide underground treasures like those of the Perama cave. They were very surprised to find that although it was not the size of the Perama Cave, it did not lag behind in decoration. The incident became known to the businessman and resident of Nafplio, Mr. I. Prountzos, who asked by phone Ms. A. Petrocheilou to visit the cave.
During her visit on August 16, 1978, Mrs. Petrochilou described it as remarkable from a tourist point of view and made preliminary measurements with the help of the villagers: D. Kaparello, G. Nassi and V. Nassi. The mapping was completed in December 1979 with assistants: Community President Spir. Caparello, Vice President Pan. Bouri, the Teacher Chr. Koligliatis and the residents of the village G. Giannakopoulos and Mich. D. Kaparello, by order of ESE and sponsored by the then Community of Kapareli. [1]
