Kamaroula (Καμαρούλα ) Aitoloakarnania
Kamaroula is a semi-mountainous village in Aitoloakarnania at an altitude of 170 meters.
Geography - History
Kamaroula is located northwest of Lake Trichonida, 5 km east of Agrinio. It is built to the west of the Ermitsa torrent, between the villages of Kokkinopylia (SW) and Schino (NE) and through it passes the EO of Agrinio - Karpenisi. The surrounding area during the Turkish occupation was a tsifliki of the Turkish aga which, although "Ethniki Gaia", after the liberation became the property of the chief of Velausta (today's Pyrgi) Giannaki Staikou, where cattle breeders from Kryoneria Tavosamata to Etoloakarnania of Zoutounia (Kountia) . In 1924, with the law on the expropriation of "bakufis" and "tsiflikia" for the restoration of landless people, the property was purchased by a group of residents of Koutolista who, after its measurement and design, were distributed to the beneficiaries.
Administratively
It is officially mentioned as a settlement and is included in the censuses from 1940 as part of the municipality of Agrinio and in 1963 in the Government Gazette 66A - 22/05/1963 when the seat of the newly established homonymous community was defined [3]. According to the Kallikratis program, together with Kokkinopylia, they constitute the local community of Kamaroulas that belongs to the municipal unit of Agrinio of the municipality of Agrinio and according to the 2011 census as a community has a population of 785 inhabitants, while as a settlement 595. [4]
