Kalami is a seaside resort settlement in northeastern Corfu with an altitude of 10 meters [1].
Geography - History
Kalami is located on the northeastern beaches of Corfu, at a distance of 31.5 km (driving) B. from the city of Corfu and near the village of Gimari, with which it belongs to the same local community. According to the Kallikratis plan and after its modification in 2019 [2], together with Gimari, Vlachatika, Kavalleraina, Rachi, Kentroma and Plagia constitute the local community of Gimari which belongs to the municipal unit of Kassopaion of the municipality of North Corfu and according to the 2011 census has 29 inhabitants [3]. According to the 2001 census, it had 22 permanent residents. Kalami is located in an area with plenty of greenery. It is a tourist destination for visitors who want to spend their summer holidays there. The area is chosen by painters to capture the landscape of the area. Kalami was for a few years the residence of the famous author Lawrence Darrell [4]. Also in Kalami is the mansion of the Rothschild royal family. At a distance of about 1 km east of the settlement is Kouloura beach [5].
