Granitsa (Greek: Γρανίτσα from the Slavic word for "border"), accented forms: Granítsa and Plikátion, older forms: -o and -on, is a village in the Ioannina Prefecture in Greece and the municipality of Molossoi, it is in the area of Douskara. Its 2001 population was 187 for the village of which only 80 people lives all season long. The GR-6 (Volos - Larissa - Ioannina - Igoumenitsa), the old road runs to the north and the Via Egnatia, the new highway runs to the south, the old road is approximately 2 km northwest. Granitsa is 45 km from Ioannina city and 83 km from Igoumenitsa.
It is situated even with other poor villages of mountainous Epirus, it residents emigrated to other parts of the developed world including Germany, Italy, England, Belgium, the US, New Zealand, etc.

Location
Granitsa is located 45 km SSW of Ioannina, northwest of Arta, north of Preveza and east of Igoumenitsa.
Geography and panorama
Much of the area around Granitsa are mountainous and forested the Tyria flows 1.5 km to the east.
History
After World War II and the Greek Civil War, its buildings were rebuilt. Emigration occurred at a higher rate until 1981 through to 1991, the population has been declining slowly but lost by half between 1991 and 2001. Kastania became connected with asphalt in the 1980s and the 1990s. more pavement was available in recent years. Electricity, radio and automobiles were introduced in the mid-20th century, television in the late-20th century and computer and internet at the turn of the millennium. In the late-1990s, the ex-community (now a municipal district) joined to become the newly formed municipality of Mastorohori.
Information
The main action on a few inhabitants of the village is cotton production. Recently, it had a try for synchronization of the main road, the paving of the road for the entire length from Voutsara to Granitsa from the area of Gla, it located from the Tyria river between the strategic Kourento-Granitsa Bridge in which it tried a different grass on the area.
