Drymonari (Δρυμονάρι) Evoia
Drymonari is an uninhabited semi-mountainous village of the Regional Unit of Evia at an altitude of 240 meters [1].
Geography - History
Drymonari is located at the southeastern tip of Evia and Cape Kafirea (Cape Doro). It is 47 km (driving - via Platanistou) NE. from Karystos. The village belongs to the so-called "villages of Kavondoro" in the wider area of Kafirea. East of the village and at a distance of about 3 km between Thymi and Evangelismos is the gorge of Archampoli or Charhambolis where the ruins of an organized residential complex dating from the classical period until the 1st c. BC [3]. As a settlement, it is officially mentioned in 1920 in the Government Gazette 50A - 25/07/1879 to be annexed to the then municipality of Karystos [4]. According to the Kallikratis program, together with Amygdalea, Komito, Zacharia, Thymi, Kapsouri and Schizali, they constitute the local community of Amygdalea that belongs to the municipal unit of Kafireos of the Municipality of Karystos and according to the 2011 census has no permanent residents.
