Sofokleous Street (Greek: Οδός Σοφοκλέους, Odos Sofokleous) is a street in downtown part of the Greek capital city of Athens. It is named after Sophocles. The street runs from Pireos Street and ends short from Stadiou Street at Pesmetzoglou Street and Aristeidou Street. The financial building is the Athens Stock Exchange and is located near Aiolou Street on the north side. The street is approximately 600 m long. Further north lies Kotzia Square.
History

The street added buildings in the mid-20th century. The Athens Stock Exchange was first opened in 1876 on the street's north side. It later added modernistic eight storey-buildings in most parts while neo-classical buildings still exist. Traffic lights and street lights were also added. Traffic lights were added at Pireos, Sokratous, Athinas and Aiolou.
