Agios Prokopios is a traditional settlement and community of Corfu from 1936 to 1995, when together with the Communities Gastouri and Kynopiastes they formed the Municipality of Achillion. Since 2011 it belongs to the Kallikratis Municipality of Corfu. In 1936 it was renamed from "Psorari" to "Agios Prokopios". In historical sources it is first found in 1381 as a barony or manor Psorarci, while from 1497 it appears as a 'village of the Psoraians'. It is 8.8 km away from the city of Corfu.
Administratively
Administratively it has always belonged to the area of Mesi, since it is located almost in the center of the island. The local administration was exercised by the inhabitants of the village, who were called elders or prelates. With the creation of the first Municipalities (1866) it was a homonymous settlement of the Municipality of Astygeton, which later (1869) was merged into the Municipality of Mesochorita. By Royal Decree of March 5, 1919, the Community of Psora was founded.
In the village there are three churches dedicated to Agios Vassilios, Agios Prokopios and Agia Triada. Ecclesiastically it belongs to the Hierarchical Region of Synarades of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu.
Customs
Like all the villages of Corfu, and especially the region of Messi, it observes the traditional customs until today. In addition to the religious events of Holy Week, on the second day of Holy Week (New Monday) the two-faced image of the Virgin Mary (Madre della Consolazione) and the Resurrection of the Lord is lit. This procession has been witnessed since 1671.
On the Sunday of All Saints, a festival takes place next to the eponymous Holy Temple of the Holy Trinity and All Saints. A few weeks later, one of the oldest and most famous festivals of the island takes place, in honor of the feast of Agios Prokopios (July 8).
Clubs
From time to time there were various associations in the village with a cultural or agricultural character (Vocal Association since 1925, Laiki Bank since 1926, Association of Farmers since 1950, etc.).
Today, within the Cultural Association (1980) there is a mixed choir and photographic group, while from time to time various events (theatrical and dance performances, concerts, exhibitions, etc.) are organized by members of the Association or by guest bands.

Architecture
The village has been declared a traditional settlement since 1978. In terms of housing, it is a representative sample of the local architecture, as it consists of residential complexes (neighborhoods), which have pure traditional elements. It consists of the neighborhoods: Kardatika, Mamalatika and Kato Geitonia. For several houses, which are preserved until today, testimonies from the 16th century are preserved.
The temples
One of the oldest buildings is the church of St. Basil, which already existed at the beginning of the 16th century. (1511). The hagiographies are samples of the domestic folk production.
The Holy Temple of Agios Prokopios has been mentioned in the sources since the beginning of the 16th century. Around the end of the 19th century. it was completely destroyed by fire. A larger church was built on the foundations of this small church and a tower bell tower was erected, the work of which was completed in 1937.
The church of the Holy and Zoroastrian Trinity was inaugurated in the year 1745. It has representative samples of the traditional architecture of the temples of the island. The iconostasis - made of stone and plaster - runs through the "vineyard" and is adorned with hagiographies of famous hagiographers of their time, such as the priest Theodoros Angelatos and the monk Daniel Koklas. Apart from the portable icons, frescoes from the middle of the 18th century are preserved. (right monastery of Agia Triada, apron of despots).
An important element of the natural environment of the village is the olive tree of Ai Prokopiou, which is probably the oldest and largest olive tree on the island. This olive tree is located southeast of the hill of Agios Prokopios, in the village.
