Achlada (Αχλάδα ) Florina
Achlada is a village in Florina, Greece. It was known as Krousorati or Krousourati until it was renamed in 1926. [1]
History
Krousorati is an old settlement with references from the 15th century. The settlement is mentioned in an Ottoman tax warehouse (notebook) of 1626-1627 under the name Krousorand and is described as a settlement with sixty non-Muslim households. [2] The Russian Slavologist Viktor Grigorovich recorded Krushorande (Krushorade) in 1845 as a village inhabited mainly by Bulgarians (Slavic speakers). [3]
In 1894 a Greek school operated in the village. Until the end of the 19th century, the Greek element prevailed in Krousorati [5] [Note. 1]. Due to the growing Bulgarian armed threat, in 1903 the elite of Krousorati went to the Monastery in order to report the threats and terrorism they were receiving from Bulgarian komitatzides, to the Greek consul Stamatio Kiouse Peza. According to their reports, small Bulgarian armed forces invaded the village every day and spent the night, forcing the Croisoratins to pay 3 pounds each, and forbidding them to call the Ottoman authorities. [6] Eventually, in mid-1904, the inhabitants of Krousorati, after unbearable pressure and violence, were forced to declare themselves exarchs. [7] [8] This is confirmed by Dimitar Misef in "La Macédoine et sa Population Chrétienne", where he concludes that the Christian population of the village in 1905 consisted of 760 exarchs. [9]
