Symbolab is an answer engine[2] developed by EqsQuest Ltd. It is an online service that computes step-by-step solutions to mathematical problems in a range of subjects.[3]
History
Symbolab was released in late 2011 by three Israelis, Michal Avny (CEO), Adam Arnon (Chief Scientist) and Lev Alyshayev (CTO). They created an engine which can interpret a user-entered equation or symbolic problem and find the solution if it exists. Then they added the ability to show all the steps explaining the calculation. [4]
Eqsquest started in 2011 as a mathematical semantic search engine.[5] The emphasis gradually drifted towards step-by-step solutions for high school and college-level math problems. Symbolab relies on machine learning algorithms for both search and solution aspects of the engine.[6]
