HECATOMPHO´NIA (ἑκατομφόνια), an ancient festival or rather custom observed by the Messenians of Ithome, whenever they had killed a hundred enemies. A sacrifice was offered on the occasion to Zeus. (Paus. 4.19.2; Plut. Romul. 24.)
