Tracy Spiridakos is a Greek-Canadian actress who stars as Charlotte "Charlie" Matheson in the NBC post-apocalyptic science fiction series Revolution.
Life and career
Spiridakos was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Greek-born parents, George and Anastasia Spiridakos, who are restaurant owners.[2] She has two brothers.[3] The family moved to the Greek village Skala, near Sparta, when she was four, and returned to Canada when she was nine.[4][5] She strongly identifies with her Greek heritage.[6]
Spiridakos began acting in junior high school, and studied at the Actors Training Centre of Manitoba.[7] She graduated from Oak Park High School in Winnipeg in 2000.[8] Spiridakos moved to Vancouver in 2007 to pursue acting, and within weeks landed her first television role, a small part on Supernatural.[9][10] She continued working in television, with walk-on roles on Bionic Woman, The L Word, Hellcats, and Psych.[1] Spiridakos appeared in the TV movie Goblin, and the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy. She also had a recurring role on Being Human as werewolf Brynn McLean.[11]
In 2009, she won her first starring role in the Canadian Teletoon series Majority Rules!, playing 15-year-old Becky Richards.[7] She made her feature film debut in 2011 with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and filmed the low-budget thriller, Kill For Me, with Donal Logue and Katie Cassidy.[3][10] In mid-2012, Spiridakos landed a lead role on the NBC television series Revolution as Charlie Matheson, a survivalist in a dystopian future civilization.[2] She auditioned for the role while attending her first pilot season in Los Angeles. Spiridakos shot the pilot in Atlanta, and continued filming the series in Wilmington, North Carolina.[9]
As of December 2012, Spiridakos is engaged to Jon Cor, an actor from Ontario, Canada.[12] They co-starred in the 2010 film The Boy She Met Online. He also played her werewolf brother in the U.S. version of Being Human.
