Theodoros Georgios Orphanides (* 1817; † 17. August 1886 Athens) was a Greek botanist and professor in Athens. The Orphanidesia species , or Silene orphanidis are named after Orphanides.
The Biebersteinia orphanidis species was discovered by Orphanides in 1851 on Mount Kyllini, after considered to be extinct it was found 1994 by D. Vassiliades and Th. Constantinides in a nearby mountain
