Konstantinos Bigalis (greek Κωνσταντίνος Μπίγαλης), known as Kostas (or Costas) Bigalis is a established well known and widely appreciated in Greece popular artist, known for both his exceptional composing talent and unique vocal performance.
Biography
Costas Bigalis was born in Athens and he began his artistic career at the age of 19 when he was awarded in a musical competition and signed his first contract with EMI Greece.
In 1978 he participates in the contemporary opera "Utopia", by Mimis Plessas and Kostas Virvos, and in 1979 he starred in the Greek version of the legendary rock opera "Jesus Christ Super Star", playing the leading role of high priest Annas. In the same year Costas Bigalis attended courses at the Drama School of Athens.
In the summer of 1980 he starred in the role of Hermes in the bold musical adaptation of "Lucian Dialogues", which was performed at the Athens Festival at the Lycabettus Theater. In the same year he participates with a small part in Universal's TV film "Acts of the Apostles Peter and Paul", starring Antony Hopkins.
In 1981, he records with producer Loukas Sideras, member of the legendary Greek band Aphrodite's Child, two songs titled: “Seventh Heaven” and “The Amazing Mr. Be”, for the American film "The Next One" by Nikos Mastorakis.
In 1984 CBS Greece releases his first English-spoken album titled BIG ALICE, from which the song “I MISS YOU”, becomes number-one single of the year 1984-85 in Greece and it was released in 18 countries around the world.
In 1989 he released his first Greek-spoken album titled "With the Sun in Pisces", which becomes Gold.
In 1992 follows the album " Aegean Blues" which soon becomes Platinum.
In 1993, the album "My Little Bee" is released and becomes double platinum.
In 1994 the album "Musical Journey" becomes Gold and in the same year he participates with his song "Trechantiri" in the Eurovision Song Contest.
In the following years he releases the albums: "My Sun, My Friend" (1995), "Your Love like Sea" (1996), "Mythos" (1997), "Passion" (1998), "A Moment In Time"(1999), "With my back against the Wall" (2002) "Galazio" (2005).
In the same year his song "The Light In Our Soul" performed by the female singer Elena Paparizou, becomes a smash hit in Greece and in September 2005 climbs up to number 3 on Swedish single charts.
Since 2008 he’s been working and writing songs for new country artists with the established Australian producer Mark Moffatt based in Nashville USA.
In December 2011, he releases his most recent Greek-spoken album, titled "ZISE".
