Eurycratides was a King of Sparta from the Agiad dynasty,reigning ca. 615- ca. 590 BC, being the 13th of that line. His name is derived from the Greek "eury",meaning "wide".
He reigned in the earlier and most devastating period of the war with Tegea (see:Herod, i. 65).
He is mentioned in the seventh book of Herodotus's Inquiries : "(Leonides) Anaxandrides’ son, Leon’s son, Eurycratides’ son, Anaxandrus’ son, Eurycrates’ son"
His predecessor was Anaxander (who was his father) and his successor was Leon (who was his son) c.590 - 560 BC
