Episthenes (Ἐπισθένης), of Amphipolis, commanded the Greek peltastae at the battle of Cunaxa, and is mentioned by Xenophon as an able officer. His name occurs again in the march of the Greeks through Armenia. (Xen. Anab. i. 10. § 7, iv. 6. § 1.)
